IT’S THE picture that has most of Warminster speculating. Just WHAT is that figure lurking outside a George Street funeral directors?
Kirsty Clinch snapped the chilling image stood next to Crème De La Cod shortly after 7pm on Sunday evening while out with boyfriend Graham Hobbs.
The pair were suitably spooked and quickly left the scene without investigating the apparently hooded vision. Kirsty grabbed a quick picture and when she later zoomed in on her phone she was shocked at the apparition staring back at her.
The 27-year-old singer-songwriter said: “My boyfriend spotted the figure at first after I took a picture on Snapchat – like people do these days – to show people where I was as we were off out for a beer.
“I looked over at the wall and saw it just staring at us, not moving.
“My boyfriend was like ‘come on, let’s go’ but I couldn’t stop looking at it. We were laughing nervously because we couldn’t figure the dark image out.
“We kind of just ran off after that as it was a little freaky and we couldn’t figure out what we had seen.
“We zoomed into the pic after screenshotting it from Snapchat later and we freaked out even more.”
After discussing possible explanations with friends, Kirsty later posted the photo on the Spotted in Warminster Facebook page.
Several readers were sceptical but many were as unsettled as Kirsty – particularly when it was pointed out that the figure was captured between the chip shop AND the Co-Operative funeral directors.
Kirsty added: “I sent it to a few friends for opinions and then sent it to Spotted in Warminster to see what other people thought.
“At first I said it was by the fish shop, which it is but then realised it was also next to the funeral directors. I think it’s got a resemblance to the Grim Reaper.
“No one else was around when we saw it. I can’t remember seeing anyone else anyway, the street and the chip shop seemed pretty empty.
“I can’t stop looking at the image now. None of us can figure it out. We were to freaked out to go any closer, but on camera it’s not clear and I guess you doubt what you see don’t you? You try and figure out what else it could be, but it beats me. I’m really not sure what I saw that night.
“I believe in the supernatural. Too many things have happened (for me) not to. Maybe it’s a thing us humans get, a mind trick that makes us believe we see things because of the amount of rubbish on TV these days.
“But I have the picture to prove something was defiantly stood there. What it was I will never know, only your eyes can judge that.
“I’ve had weird experiences in the past also, that make me believe that there definitely is something. Why the figure showed itself to us, I will never know.”
