LOCAL levels of excitement have been stirring following reports that music superstar P!nk is giving up the Los Angeles lifestyle for the more sedate surroundings of Bath. Bad news (or good news depending on your disposition); the story appears to be complete nonsense.
Online-false-gossip-peddlers Channel18news.com published an article suggesting the 36-year-old singer was moving to the city.
In the shameless cut-and-paste job they attribute the following quotes to P!nk (or Alecia Beth Moore as her mother named her): “I’m just tired of the L.A. lifestyle and I feel like, at this point in my life, I’d rather just live in a place full of real, genuine people.
“I’ve been to Bath, England a couple of times over the years and the people there are real… they’re genuine, and yeah every community has its problems but the people there are good, decent people and they care about their community. Those are the things I find most important in deciding where to live.
“I’m not retiring, I’m just looking for a change in life and I think I’ve found that in Bath.”
The notion didn’t seem that far-fetched; A-listers such as Johnny Depp and Nic Cage and have all previously set up home in Bath.
But earlier this year those exact same quotes were attributed to Robert Downey Junior on a potential move just over the Somerset border.
As thatsfake.com explains, it appears the passage is recycled using a variety of star names and locations; a hoax devised purely to entice online clicks all over the world. Utter fibs.
So next time you read an article suggesting Beyonce is relocating to Melksham or the Beckhams are upping sticks to Calne, don’t be sucked in. Contain your excitement until you see them in the queue at your local Lidl.
