STOURHEAD is hosting two triathlon events on 14 and 15 May.
Working with Immortal Sport the National Trust property will be hosting a sprint distance and a middle distance triathlon with over 500 triathletes enjoying the Stourhead estate near Warminster in different ways.
The lake at the centre of the world-famous landscape garden will be filled with eager sports men and women on the Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning as the races start, before they set off on foot and by bike, travelling up to 70 miles across the Stourhead estate and beyond.
The event, which is in its third year, has been organised by Immortal Sport and the 2016 event promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
‘The event at Stourhead is a real highlight of the year for us at Immortal Sport,’ said Steve Elliot, Race Director. ‘It is such a beautiful location, and it is great to work with the National Trust to host an event with such a ‘wow factor’ for the athletes from start to finish.’
The team at Stourhead are pleased to be able to host such an event, which allows participants and visitors to experience Stourhead in a completely different way for one weekend of the year.
Leanne Clements, Visitor Experience Manager at Stourhead said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming the Immortal Sport team and each of the 500 triathletes back to Stourhead for a third time.
“It’s a really moving experience to see the swimmers in the lake at sunrise and for us to join their friends and families in supporting them as they tackle running and cycling on the challenging but beautiful routes around the estate.
“There’s a genuine feel good buzz over the weekend and it’s a highlight for all the staff and volunteers here, as well as being a unique spectacle for visitors.”
Registration to take part in the event is open until midnight on Wednesday 11 May.
