TROWBRIDGE Community Policing Team executed a warrant in The Down on Friday and uncovered a sophisticated cannabis factory.
Following community intelligence and joint working between the CPT, intelligence department and the Dedicated Crime Team, more than 300 plants in various stages of growth were discovered in two of the four upstairs bedrooms and in the loft.
Sergeant Kevin Harmsworth, who led the warrant for the CPT, said: “A number of rooms in the house had been converted purely for the cultivation of cannabis.
“We have been able to intercept this production and take a large quantity of drugs off of the streets. We were able to provide a quick and effective response to the intelligence we received and pull together the different teams within our CPT and force-wide to execute this warrant.”
Acting Inspector Louis McCoy, of the Trowbridge and Warminster sectors, said: “This was an excellent police response to community intelligence and we have acted on this very quickly.
“We are pleased we have been able to take these drugs off of our streets and have an active enquiry ongoing to locate those people who are responsible for this cannabis factory.
“I would like to remind all landlords to conduct thorough checks on their tenants and ensure that you know who is living in your house and what they are using it for.”
Anyone with information on this incident, or anyone who suspects drug activity in their area, should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if preferred.
