THINK Live nights bring the best in alternative music to Salisbury’s City Hall. CH3, which is their smallest performance space, gives you that club feeling with fantastic live music.
Past performers have included Gaz Brookfield, CC Smugglers and Beans on Toast. We look at some of the acts gracing the intimate stage this summer…
THE UNDERCOVER HIPPY
Saturday 18 June, 8pm
Billy Rowan, aka The Undercover Hippy, is definitely not your average singer songwriter. His music brings together acoustic guitar, soulful vocals, infectious reggae rhythms, and the lyrical delivery of a skilled mc.
After seven years spent DJing and MCing on the drum & bass circuit, Billy swapped the decks for a guitar and started out as a solo act in 2007. Although he still occasionally does solo gigs, he now usually plays with a full band, mixing guitars, keys, drums, bass, percussion and backing vocals to create a high energy, interactive and highly entertaining live show.
Combining intelligent, provocative lyrics with dangerously catchy hooks and a feel good groove, this is music for the thinking man to shake his arse to. Think Jason Mraz meets The Cat Empire…on a protest march…at the Edinburgh Fringe.
STATE OF UNDRESS
Saturday 25 June, 8pm
From Cornwall to Scotland, State of Undress have been taking stages by storm for the past 10 years with their exuberant and infectious fiddle-fuelled music.
With original songs that embrace the thought-provoking, joyous and shamelessly foot-tapping, plus traditional songs played in their own idiosyncratic style, State of Undress promise you a rollercoaster of a gig!
DANNY & THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD
Monday 24 July, 8pm
Danny & The Champions of The World have played shows all over the world, the kind of legendary, life-affirming rock and soul revues (with country fringing) that have seduced them a global following.
The band have this year won UK Album of The Year, UK Song of the Year and UK Artist of The Year at The UK Americana Music Association Awards.
Tickets for all gigs can be purchased from City Hall box office on 01722 434434 or from cityhallsalisbury.co.uk
