WILTSHIRE Police have issued a warning after receiving reports from members of the public today relating to suspicious phone calls.
Two calls were reported this afternoon from residents in the Marlborough area, in which a man states he is calling from Scotland Yard Fraud Prevention Department.
He goes on to tell the person on the other end of the phone that a man has attempted to use their bank card to buy a computer in London for more than £1,000.
Wiltshire Police have confirmed the calls are the work of scammers and have warned residents not to relay personal details and secure information over the phone.
A police spokesperson said: “If you receive a similar call to this, please do not give out any personal details including your name, address, card details and PIN number.
“Hang up immediately, and call 101 to report the incident.”
