Avebury man airlifted to hospital after colliding with tree


A 50-YEAR-OLD Avebury man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries when his car collided with a tree.

The collision happened as the man drove his blue Vauxhall towards Marlborough along Free’s Avenue in Rockley at 7.55am on Saturday morning.

The casualty suffered multiple injuries and was flown to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a serious condition.

PC David Williams, from the roads policing unit based in Devizes, said: “The road was closed for three hours to allow for medical treatment of the casualty and for collision investigation.

“Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, who have not already identified themselves, or may have seen the Vauxhall prior to the collision.
