Brighter Futures charity opens doors to public at new office

THE public will be able to find out more face-to-face about Brighter Futures, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s charity, after it relocated to the Brunel Treatment Centre at Swindon’s Great Western Hospital.

Information about how to get involved in fundraising for the charity is available from staff in their new office, which is next to reception at the main entrance to the Brunel Treatment centre, off Downs Way.

Visitors can also obtain sponsorship forms and get new Brighter Futures-branded wristbands from the office, which is open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

The charity was previously based in the Commonhead offices at GWH, which were not accessible to the public.

Brighter Futures – recently chosen as Stratton Sainsbury’s store’s Charity of the Year – launched in May a £2.9m fundraising appeal to equip a dedicated radiotherapy centre at GWH for local cancer patients.

Presently many have to travel to Oxford’s Churchill Hospital for daily treatment for up to seven weeks.

Jennifer Green, Brighter Futures’ Head of Fundraising, said: “Our Radiotherapy Appeal really needs the community’s support and our new base allows us to interact closely with people visiting the hospital as well as our own staff about what we do.

“It’s also an easy way for people to bring the money they have raised to us. Having a permanent office allows us to build on the momentum that we have generated already from the appeal – we have been overwhelmed by the support.

“I want to hear people’s fundraising ideas, so why not pop in, send us an email or pick up the phone, so we can discuss how we can help you raise money for Brighter Futures?”

Selfie-takers can still show their support for the Radiotherapy Appeal by posting photographs with themselves with a clock or watch on Facebook and Twitter with #TheTimeIsNow.

Anyone wanting to donate can do so by texting SWIN29, followed by either £5 or £10, to 70070.
