Chance of big cash prizes for talented Wiltshire artists

Will you be entering the competition at Wiltshire Museum in Devizes?

A CHANCE for Wiltshire artists to win hundreds of pounds starts on Monday.

To enter the biennial Oexmann Art Award competition entrants can take their work to the Wiltshire Museum in Long Street, Devizes, from Monday, March 6, until Sunday,  March 12.

The object of the Oexmann Art Award is to encourage and promote Wiltshire artists by providing cash prizes through an art competition open to all which is followed by  an exhibition.

It is open to everyone born or living in Wiltshire and entries may be of any subject matter and can be in any two dimensional medium – painting, drawing, collage and printmaking but not computer generated.

Entries must be of original work and the judges will not consider works that reveal copying, plagiarism or use of photography.

Entries will be judged on Wednesday, March 15, with the prize-giving ceremony on Sunday, April 2.

Prizes are awarded in the following categories:
First: £500
Second: £300
Drawing: £50

Children and young persons
Age 6-11:
First: £50
Second: £30

Age 12-18
First: £75
Second: £40

Merit prizes and commendation certificates may also be awarded for adults and children.

Entries should be brought to the museum during normal working hours between March 6 and 12.

The exhibition of winning and selected entries will be at the museum from April 2 until May 29.
