Corsham man arrested on suspicion of drink driving after failing to stop at collision scene

Police are appealing for witnessses to a Christmas Eve attack on a woman in front of her children

A 26-YEAR-OLD Corsham man was arrested last night after failing to stop at a road traffic collision.

At approximately 10.10pm, a 23-year-old man was driving a BMW Z4 near The Three Magpies pub, Sells Green, Seend, in the direction of Melksham, when he became aware of a black vehicle being driven erratically towards him.

The black vehicle then clipped the wing mirror of the BMW, causing it to fall off.

The driver of the black vehicle stopped at the industrial estate prior to Sells Green but then is said to have made off at speed.

Officers then located the vehicle in Devizes and stopped the driver in High Street.

The driver refused to provide a specimen of breath and was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision.

He was taken to Melksham custody where he remains while enquiries continue.
