WITH below freezing temperatures expected tonight, primary routes are being gritted across Wiltshire this evening.

“Please remember minor roads may be icy and ice can form even on treated surfaces,” said a Wiltshire Council spokesman.

The Met Office has not issued a yellow weather warning for Wiltshire and Swindon but the chief forecaster says: “The cold conditions with a mixture of clear spells and wintry showers will continue through Sunday night and Monday morning.

“This will result in temperatures falling rapidly on Sunday evening and icy patches developing on untreated surfaces, especially where any wintry showers lead to wash off of previous treatment.”
