A COMMUNITY volunteer is calling for members of the public to help him spread a little comfort to homeless people in Swindon.
Jamie Brewer, 25, is asking for donations of clean blankets, duvets, warm winter clothing, including hats, scarves and gloves, as well as non-perishable snacks such as crisps, biscuits and cereal bars. He is also calling for volunteers to go out with him to deliver the items before Christmas.
Jamie, who has organised two candlelit vigils at the war memorial in Swindon this year following terrorist attacks, said: “Recently, I have been suffering from depression and like many people, I find this time of the year difficult.
“I miss my father who passed away in 1998 and my nan who passed away last year and I would like to do something to help those who are less fortunate than myself.
“Over the past week or so the temperature has really dropped, and it must be really tough for those who are out there on the streets.”
