Police are appealing for witnesses

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after 69-year-old man died following a car crash on the M4 near Swindon this morning.

“We received a call shortly before 8am this morning reporting a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the M4 westbound carriageway between junction 14 and 15,” said a spokesman for Wiltshire Police.

“The vehicle, a silver Citroen C5, had crashed into the hard shoulder and it appears the driver suffered a medical episode.

“Despite the efforts of paramedics, the driver, a 69-year-old man from the London area, sadly died.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

“Officers are trying to clarify the exact circumstances so would like to hear from anyone who saw the car before the collision, or anyone who witnessed the collision.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101.
