Plea after passerby comes to aid of teenager attacked by youths

Police are appealing for witnesses

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was attacked by a group of youths with a passerby coming to his aid.

The 16-year-old victim was walking past Clarendon College, Trowbridge, when he was verbally abused by a group of youths at about 3.15pm on Thursday.

He ignored them and carried on walking.

But when he reached Newtown the youths caught up with him and assaulted him.

A member of the public intervened, causing the group to disperse.

The victim sustained injuries to his head, face and shoulder. He went to Trowbridge Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

PC Kevin Robert said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw the group of youths in the area prior to or after the assault.

“Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
