Police plea after man suffers eye injury outside Chippenham pub


A MAN suffered an eye injury in an assault outside a Chippenham pub.

Police are now appealing for information after the incident near the Pheasant Inn, on Bath Road, at about 11.30pm on Friday.

A 27-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing GBH and released on bail pending further enquiries.

T/Detective Sergeant Anthony King, of Central CID, said: “This appears to have been an isolated and unprovoked assault which has left the victim with a significant injury to his eye.

“We have arrested one man in connection with the incident and he has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the assault, or any incidents within the pub during the evening of Friday,  December 2 – please get in touch as you may have information which could help the investigation.”
