Residents on alert after string of burglaries across Melksham


POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a series of burglaries in Melksham during the early hours of Monday 18 April 2016.

Premises in Beanacre Road were targeted with padlocks broken on outbuildings and property stolen. Around the same time offenders broke into the Ford Nortree Garage and Fairfield Garage also on Beanacre Road. A large sum of cash was stolen along with items of Ford memorabilia and a red and white off-road motorbike worth approximately £3,000.

Approximately £60 cash was also stolen from the air machine at the BP garage next door.

Offenders also broke into premises at Leszan Travel and TJ’s Self Drive on Bradford Road and stole cash along with a white VW Krafter van.

PC Cerys Powell, of Central CID, said: “We believe that all of these incidents are linked and are currently carrying out enquiries to locate those responsible.

“These suspects must have been in the area for some time and I’d like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour within the Beanacre Road and Bradford Road area between midnight and 6am on Monday to contact police.

“Any information, no matter how small, could help our investigation.”
