Talk is Cheap: Ryan Martin returns with new coaching set-up

SWINDON Welterweight boxing prospect Ryan Martin has been confirmed as an addition to the already packed ‘Talk is Cheap’ card being held at the Oasis leisure Centre on 26th November.

With a current record of seven wins and no defeats, Martin has been out of action since his impressive points win over the durable Lithuanian Arvydas Trizno in June.

At the events press launch last week, the former amateur England International said that he wants to put on a good show for his loyal fans, he said: “I would like to have had a few more fights by now but as I’m only 22 I have a long career ahead of me and the opportunities will come.

“The hunger is still there and I have good support and want them to see me in a fight, I want someone who’s going to stand and fight, tough and strong and want to give back to people who regularly buy tickets to see me.

It was also announced he had been training with the well-respected local trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick over recent weeks and is set to be in his corner for his next fight.  Martin said “I thought a few changes need to be made training wise, I trained with paddy as an amateur but I’m taking it a fight at a time and we’ll see where we are after this fight.”

When asked about the future Martin was optimistic: “This will probably be my last fight of 2016 but I want to be busy in 2017, I need the right fights at the right time. I’m 100% fit, no injuries and I’m in the right place mentally.

He added: “This is one of the best bills I’ve seen in a Swindon show and am really looking forward to it”.

The bill is headlined by undefeated Light Heavyweight ‘Sniper” Sam Smith with the exciting Luke ‘the Duke’ Watkins as Chief Support. Also featuring is the well-travelled former IBO Intercontinental champion, Kelvin Young is having his ‘retirement fight’ in front of his home fans.

Tickets are still available from £35 -£70 via or the ticket hotline 01793 833468.
