Unidentified pedestrian fights for life after collision with transporter near Warminster

AN UNIDENTIFIED pedestrian is fighting for life at Southmead Hospital after colliding with a transporter near Warminster in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened at 4.18am on the A36 between the Cley Hill roundabout and the Granada Services roundabout.

The VW transporter, travelling south collided with the pedestrian, who was walking in the opposite direction.

The pedestrian suffered a major head injury and was taken by land ambulance to Southmead in Bristol, where they remain in a critical condition.

Wiltshire Police have not yet released any details on the gender or approximate age of the casualty.

The driver of the transporter was not injured in the incident.

Police are appealing for the driver of a car travelling north along the A36 shortly before the collision to come forward.

The driver flashed their lights at the transporter in an apparent warning of the pedestrian’s presence along the carriageway and may prove a vital witness in the investigation.

If you were the driver or have any information please contact PC Steve Hutton of Wiltshire Police on 101 or emailĀ steve.hutton@wiltshire.pnn.police.uk.
