Was Marlborough’s phantom litter picker scouting houses to rob?

POLICE believe a man seen deliberately dropping litter around Marlborough before collecting it with a picker may have been scouting houses.

The man, in his late 20s or early 30s, was spotted acting strangely in the Clench Common area on Monday, February 29.

He later left the area in a white Transit van, emblazoned with ‘MAC Landscape Gardening’.

A WIltshire Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information after a man was seen acting suspiciously in the Clench Common area of Marlborough on Monday 29 February, at around midday.

“We received reports of a man deliberately dropping litter and then picking it up with a litter picker.

“He also seemed to be scouting the houses. He is described as white, in his late 20s early 30s, six feet tall, of skinny build and was wearing a navy polo shirt with MAC on the front in light blue lettering. He also wore black work trousers.

“He left in a white Ford Transit van with MAC Landscape Gardening on the side. Please call 101 if you witnessed this or have seen a person matching this description acting suspiciously.”
